Doodles- Young North
Was in a drawing slump- feeling tired, so pushed myself with some quick messy doodles of a young North.
(I think I’ll blame seeing Iron Man 3 earlier for making me want to draw bearded fellas)
top image- running into “La Befana”. He’d describe her as “old and ugly, but with a golden heart no human can match”.
Second- accepting the challenge from a Shaman to do ” 3 impossible things in one day” in order to, what else, win some sort of treasure.

Sorry for the long delay in posting these, but daytime work is taking up a lot of energy. I do have a few more ideas to play with, but I can’t tell when these will be done, as it looks like busy work days ahead. Maybe months.
Here’s part 1 of 2. I keep separating book verse from movie verse, but the image of adventurer-soldier, thief North is too fun to ignore.

Another, different take on a sequence. I prefer the current, more silent and solemn version (which Dave also did), but it is great to see the different dynamics. More “what if”…

This was one of my favorite scenes to board on Rise of the Guardians. I just put the whole scene on my website. In the end this version was to ambitious for the final film. But there are some things that stuck. Originally Bunny had a more mechanical warren similar to the movie Hop or Charlie and the Chocolate factory. We wanted to stay away from anything mechanical and make it feel like a natural tribal cycle of nature. Everywhere Bunny landed or touched blossomed with life. Some moments stuck through to the end and other were too expensive. The process of the egg coloration was developed in this version with the pollen, vines and rivers coloring the eggs. A few things that wish we could have had in the final version were North riding a reindeer like a cowboy, giant bioluminescent danelion seeds, egg timer and an avalanche of eggs. But the movie wasn’t about bunny so the warren scene was pared back significantly for the final film.

ahaha, this is another one of those things i started on a whim then proceeded to take forever to finish! but i had so much fun drawing long (and somewhat) curly locks!

“Treasure” preview.
Looks like I’ll be very very busy for the next month or so, so not a lot of time to work on comics, even if the next one is mostly all planned out, presently clocking at 12 pages. Just posting these two “in progress- rough pages”, to kick myself in the butt to remind me to finish this one.
