Myth Hunter (03)

Please read the first 2 parts in order for this to make a bit of sense.

Part 1: http://rufftoon.tumblr.com/post/59569560420/myth-hunter-01-the-beginning-of-another-young

Part 2: http://rufftoon.tumblr.com/post/60433930248/myth-hunter-02-first-part-here

And one little extra reading, if you feel like it. Chronologically, it would happen before:http://rufftoon.tumblr.com/post/56910605346/legendary-having-fun-with-a-young-north

Apologies for the delay in posting stuff. It’s been really really busy. I managed to take a small break to finish part 3. There are quite a few parts left for this story, but I can’t tell when I’ll be done. Must return to work.

Based on Nicholas St-North from Rise of The Guardians. Just having fun with a young North and his crazy adventures.

"Myth Hunter (02)"

First part here:

http://rufftoon.tumblr.com/post/59569560420/myth-hunter-01-the-beginning-of-another-young

Continuing young North’s adventures. He can capture a giant magical sturgeon, but a ding cauldron proves a bit more tricky.

To be continued…

"Myth Hunter (01)"

The beginning of another Young North story. This one is shaping up to be rather long, so it will be done in pieces. It will be different from the others. It will be just a fun, silly adventure.

And for some people who asked: this is a young version of North, inspired from Rise Of The Guardians. A North, way before he was a Guardian and with LOTS of growing up left to do!

This was inspired by a series of lecture on chinese art history. I just played around with it,

Credit where credit is due: thanks to Glenda Chao and her essay:

" Thing Theory" (2008). I quoted some of her text to explain what the ding vessels were about. I did try explaining it-writing it myself, but it was all garbled. Also thanks to Anne Birrel for the image of Emperor Qin trying to retrieve the ding vessel. I redrew it and modified it a bit.

To be continued…

I should really REALLY focus on work, but doing comics is just…cathartic. And this one is shaping up to be a fun, silly adventure.
And way too long. Might have to do it in chunks.
Part of the same story as this earlier doodle:

Another story idea brick hit my head, and that’s the first image that jumped up. I’m just worried that I may never have the time and energy to draw that one out entirely. Trying to think of a possible alternative.
(I wish I knew how to write the cyrillic version of “oh crud” or something similar, ha ha!)

“We came up with a factory process, where North creates the prototype out of ice, hands it off to the Yetis, and they make toys. It is an assembly line of Yeti workers organized by department or section. First, there are makers or builders; then the finishing department where the paint is applied to the toys. From there, they go on to be boxed and wrapped in the final department.” – Max Boas, art director

Reblogging for Perry’s wonderful concept art (and blue yeti looking like Grumpy cat)

"Legendary"

Having fun with a young North ( totally rambling on). Little name tweak, as it probably evolved over time, judging from his origin and how “St-North” sounds so english (I can’t begin to guess what his last name sounded like in his youth).

Sorry for the delay posting that one. Really busy with side projects. I don’t know what I’ll do with the few more story ideas that are running around in my head. :(
